SEVERE WEATHER EMERGENCY PROTOCOL (SWEP) OPERATING TONIGHT
SEVERE WEATHER EMERGENCY PROTOCOL (SWEP)
OPERATING TONIGHT, THURSDAY 2ND JANUARY 2025, UNTIL AT LEAST 9.00AM MONDAY 6TH JANUARY 2025
West Northamptonshire Council's SWEP will be activated tonight in response to the Met Office's forecast of low overnight temperatures.
For at least the next 4 nights, people who are sleeping rough in the West Northants area will be provided with somewhere that is warm and dry to stay overnight. The last admission will be at 11.00pm.
All known rough sleepers are being contacted and provided with details of how to access the emergency accommodation. However, if you know someone who is sleeping rough in the West Northants area and requires access to accommodation, please advise them to contact the Council on 0300 126 7000.
During this time, our Street Outreach team will be out in the Northampton locality engaging with those sleeping rough, and can be contacted directly by emailing OutreachTeam.NBC@westnorthants.gov.uk
On Monday morning, the Met Office weather forecast will be reviewed, and a decision will be made on whether or not the SWEP provision will continue to operate.
If you no longer wish to receive these emails or would like to add anyone else to the distribution list, please let us know.
