Weather Warnings from West Northants Council

We would like to make you aware that the Met Office have issued weather warnings for rain for Northamptonshire over the next couple of days.

There is a yellow weather warning for rain in place from 6am tomorrow (Friday 14 November) until 6am on Saturday, escalating to an AMBER weather warning tomorrow from 12 noon until midnight.

As a result, the Environment Agency is currently forecasting the possibility of significant impacts from surface water and river flooding on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November.

We are therefore emailing you to provide a warning of potential flooding impacts across our area and countywide from tomorrow, and over the weekend. The forecast is subject to change, but it is important to ensure that you are aware and prepared.

If you have any residents that are at risk of flooding, especially if they are particularly vulnerable, then we would encourage you to give them a heads up to be prepared for the bad weather. You can also find advice on how to prepare and stay safe on the Met Office website here.

If you have flood protection equipment we would advice you get them ready, including ensuring sandbags/alternatives to sandbags. Important possessions should be moved upstairs where possible/raised above floor levels. Emergency bags should be prepared in case of the need for evacuation. And any community emergency plans should be ready to be activated.

If flooding does occur, please ensure this is reported to us via the Report a Flood form – Instructions | Report a flood. If it is flooding to a highway, then please report this to Highways – West Northamptonshire Council FixMyStreet. Please only call 999 for flooding if there is an immediate risk to life.
